No Simple Boundaries, 1
Forming part of a series of mixed media paintings which respond to the materiality, colour and light of the exterior spaces of the Cornerstone Arts Centre, Didcot.
Over a series of days I wandered around the exterior spaces of the building, recording the changing shadow shapes and noting the colours as well as the feelings of being in the space. These paintings form a record of my time spent there and the atmosphere created by the interaction of light on form.
They investigate the changing formation of shadows as they spread across different surfaces and structures creating new boundaries. The suggestion of a flickering line or movement of shadow shapes which elongate, expand or diminish as the light alters throughout the day are brought to life with layers of spray paint and screen printed details.
